President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has been released from all charges over a misappropriation case concerning the D A Rajapaksa memorial museum, by the Special High Court today (Nov 21).
During today’s hearing Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peris, appearing for the accused told court that a case could not be filed against an Executive President.
Accordingly Court ordered to terminate the proceedings against the President and discharged the President from the case.
Mr Rajapaksa, along with six others had been accused of misappropriating state funds worth Rs 33.9 million in the construction of the museum.
A court ruling pertaining to the other suspects will be issued in due course.
