The cash deposit of Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to contest at the upcoming presidential elections would be made this afternoon, the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) said today (Sept 20).
The deposit would be made at the Election Commission which would accept deposits until October 6.
According to the polls body, a political candidate is required to make a deposit of Rs 50,000 while an independent candidate should make a deposit of Rs 75,000.
So far, three candidates namely, Jayantha Ketagoda (Independent), Siripala Amarasinghe (Independent), and Dr. Ajantha Perera (Socialist Party) have made their deposits.
Former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa was nominated as the candidate of the SLPP during its annual convention held last month.
The Presidential poll is to be held on November 16.
