The Government today extended a condolence message saying it is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of many lives caused by the sudden earthquake in Ecuador on April 17, Foreign Affairs ministry said.
"The Government conveys heartfelt and profound condolences to the bereaved families of those who lost their lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Government and people of Ecuador, including the families of victims who grieve over this terrible tragedy, and those injured. " the message said.
According to foreign media reports, at least 413 people are now known to have died in the earthquake. The 7.8-magnitude quake struck Ecuador's Pacific coast on Saturday, and the search for survivors continues.
