Minister of Local Government and Provincial Councils Faizer Mustapha said that the Government has no intention to postpone the Local Government election and it is expected to be held in June this year after resolving of the issues regarding the demarcation of electoral boundaries in local government wards.
Addressing a press briefing held at the Government Information Department today, Minister stressed that the government has no intention of holding the LG polls under the previous system.
According to the Government Information Department, about 2,000 appeals and suggestions have been received from main political parties with regard to the boundary definitions. The President has instructed the relevant officials to make appropriate boundary definitions taking the appeals in to consideration, the Minister said.
