The Postal Department says that once post offices and sub-post offices are opened for normal duties, a grace period will be granted for the payment of spot fines issued on or after March 1 for traffic offences.
Postmaster General Ranjith Ariyaratne states that the decision has been taken with the agreement of the police.
The Postmaster General also states that no additional fee will be levied for failure to pay the spot fines within 14 days of their issuing if they had been issued on or after this date.
