Hambantota Mayor Eraj Fernando who was arrested for allegedly attempting to kidnap a suspect in police custody, further remanded till May 13, police said. Earlier Mr. Fernando was arrested regarding in an incident in March 2014, where he stormed into the Ambalantota Police Station and attempted to attack and kidnap a suspect under police custody.
A Sri Lankan man was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi airport for attempting to smuggle wildlife out of the country after three ball pythons were found hidden in his underwear, the Bangkok post reported.
