A protest demonstration was launched by estate workers in Hatton today (Jan 23) demanding a daily basic wage increase of upto Rs 1000.
The protestors claimed that this protest was held in a bid to exert pressure on the Employer's Federation to fulfill their demands.
Over 100 estate workers had joined the protest that was staged opposite the Hatton Bus Stand, by waving black flags and chanting slogans demanding the wage hike.
The protest was called off after approximately an hour.
