Traders in Hatton have been warned of receiving fake currency notes from customers, after banks had identified several fake currency notes while accepting deposits.
Recently, private banks using fake currency detectors had discovered counterfeit notes bearing the value of Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 among cash deposited by traders.
Businessmen believe that the fake notes might have reached them through customers who had arrived in large numbers recently.
Accordingly, the managements of private banks have advised businessmen to take precaution while engaging in financial transactions with customers.
