Heavy rains and strong winds during next 48 hours

The Met Department has issued a severe weather advisory warning of heavy rains and strong winds during the next 48 hours due to the onset of the South-West monsoon.

According to the advisory, the south-west monsoon conditions are establishing over the country. Hence Showery and windy conditions are expected to enhance over the south-western part of the country.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central and North-western provinces.

Heavy falls (more than 150 mm) can be expected at some places.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is  requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
