IGP Pujith Jayasundara has been admitted to the Police Hospital in the backdrop of orders issued on him to appear before the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) today (Jul 2).
According to the Director of the Police Hospital, the IGP had been admitted after experiencing chest pains.
The Police Chief had been ordered to report to the CID along with Former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando to record a statement over the April 21 terrorist bombings.
Mr. Fernando too had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Cardiology Unit at the Colombo General Hospital. He is due to appear before the CID on a later date.
However, the CID is expected to record a statement from IGP Jayasundara at the Police Hospital.
