Over 1600 persons who were in boarding houses around Rathmalana, Moratuwa, Moratumulla, Mount Lavinia and other suburbs near Colombo were sent to their homes yesterday. They had been unable to travel to their homes on account of the curfew and the ban on travel between districts that were enforced to control the spread of COVID-19.
The government had deployed 46 SLTB buses to send the people to their homes in Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Jaffna, Vavuniya, Ampara, Batticaloa, Galle, Matara, Kurunegala, Monaragala, Mannar, Badulla, Matale and Hambantota.
This latest group were sent to their homes after assembling at Kothawalapura ground in Rathmalana.
