The National Organization for the Protection of Pensioners' Rights held a protest in Colombo today (11) demanding that the Government take steps to implement Public Administration Ministry Cirular 35/2019 (1) that resolves the pension anomalies of all pensioners.
They stated that over 100, 000 pensioners had retired from Government Service between 2016-2020 and they were all facing extreme hardship owing to the new Government's decision not to implement the circular. The protestors demanded that the Government take steps to implement the circular effective from January 1, 2020 and also to provide them the arrears they are due from January.
