The proposal to declare the Tripitaka as a UNESCO world heritage was submitted to UN Resident Co-ordinator Hanaa Singer by President Maithripala Sirisena today (Mar 23).
The 'Tripitakabhivandana' Week which began last Saturday culminated with a National ceremony, to announce the proposal made by Sri Lanka to UNESCO to declare the Theravada Tripitaka as a World Heritage.
The event was marked by an event held under the patronage of the Maha Sangha and with the participation of President Maithripala Sirisena at the Dalada Maligawa today.
