In pictures:Indian Navy personnel engage in flood relief work in Kalutara

Neighbouring India was the first nation to come forward with flood relief assistance to Sri Lanka.

Pictures show Indian Navy personnel operating in the Kalutara district south of Colombo, one of the worst hit by landslides and flash floods. Each Compact Team has a doctor, diver and support staff. They are working jointly with the Sri Lanka Navy. More teams are expected from India today and when further rains are expected.
