Indian foreign minister S. Jayashankar told his Sri Lankan counterpart Thilak Marapana that India would assist the Sri lankan government in its efforts towards countering terrorism.
He had made these remarks during a bilateral discussion which had taken place on the sidelines of the Annual meeting of foreign ministers at ASEAN (Association of South-east Asian Nations) in Bangkok yesterday (Aug 2).
According to foreign media reports, matters concerning the Easter Sunday bombings in the island had figured prominently during the talks.
The Sri Lankan Foreign Affairs Ministry said that Minister Marapana had engaged in bilateral talks with his counterpart from Bangladesh and New Zealand, and also the Vice President of the European Commission, Frederica Mogherini.
