Inmate serving death sentence killed by two other inmates

An inmate who was serving a death sentence in the Agunukolapelessa prison has been killed by two other inmates who were serving the same sentence.

The inmates had committed the murder using a granite block at 12:30 pm today (Nov 16).

The victim has been identified as 39-year old Menaka Sanjeewa, a resident of Hokandara, who was sentenced to death over another murder.

Agunukolapelessa police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
