IP Neomal Rangajeewa arrested over Welikada prisoner killings

Inspector Neomal Rangajeewa of the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with its investigation into the alleged murders of prison inmates during the violence at the Welikada Prison in 2012. 

At least 27 prison inmates, including suspects in remand custody, were killed during the prison riot. 

The IP is to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate today.
