The Italian government is in talks to offer technical assistance in the construction of a waste-to-energy power plant in Sri Lanka, the Power and Energy Ministry said.
The Ministry, in a statement, noted that the waste-to-energy power plant is expected to utilize between 100 and 300 tonnes of garbage to generate power.
Power and Energy Minister Ravi Karunanayake and Italian Ambassador to Sri Lanka Rita G. Mannella recently held discussions on implementing the project.
