Jeevan Thondaman, son of the late Arumugam Thondaman, Minister of Community Empowerment and Estate Infrastructure Development has been appointed as the new General Secretary of the Ceylon Workers Congress (CWC) today.
The Highlevel Committee of the party met today in Kotagala to decide on the vacant post in the aftermath of its leader and electoral strategies for upcoming Parliamentary elections on August 5.
Accordingly, Ms Anushiya Sivarajah has been appointed as the Deputy Leader of the party. The party unanimously decided to elect the new President of the party after the polls. (Pix by G.Kishanthan)
Ajith Gallage, the owner of a Bird Park in Nagarawawa, Hambantota, has been remanded over allegations of concealing illegally imported motorcycles, in a warehouse owned by him.
