The Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU), Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA) and the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) have pledged to support a new alliance to be formed under the leadership of Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa.
Issuing a joint statement, JHU General Secretary Patali Champika Ranawaka, TPA Leader Mano Ganesan and SLMC Leader Rauff Hakeem stated that their parties will join hands with the "broad people's alliance" that will be formed under the leadership to contest the next general election.
The statement said the parties would work together to defeat the incumbent government which has dashed the hopes of the people within such a short time of assuming power.

The Supreme Court today refused interim relief in an application filed by President’s Counsel Senaka Walgampaya seeking an Order from the Supreme Court compelling the President to appoint judges to fill the existing vacancies in the Court Of Appeal.
The deadline for online applications to the 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination has been extended until July 12, the Department of Examinations said.
