A Trincomalee based journalist working in an electronic media institution was killed in a road accident in Kalmunai Main street, Batticaloa today, Kaluwanchikudy police said.
E. Mithunsankar, (28) was on his way with his friends to Kalmuani today afternoon when the accident occured. When they parked near Periyakallaru Nagathambiraan Kovil for a brief break, a speeding tractor collided with his motorbike from behind. Injured journalist was pronounced dead at the admission to Kaluwanchikudy base hospital.
The driver of the tractor was taken into custody by police. Police said further investigations are underway regarding the accident.
