A JVP lawmaker today suggested that the government set up a special ward at the National Hospital and name it the FCID (Financial Crimes Investigations Division) ward to accommodate opposition politicians who suddenly fall ill when they are taken into custody.
JVP Kalutara District MP Dr Nalinda Jayatissa said that the FCID arrests opposition politicians and as soon as they are remanded under various charges, they fall sick immediately and get them transferred to hospital.
"Is the FCID arresting only sick people? I think an FCID ward will have to be set up in the National Hospital". he said.
