The JVP has said the dissolution of Parliament is an unconstitutional move adopted by President Maithripala Sirisena.
Speaking to local media, JVP member Vijitha Herath said this is the first time that such an occurrence has taken place in the country while citing that the removal of Ranil Wickremesinghe from the post of Prime Minister was also unconstitutional.
Mr. Herath further said that this is the prime reason for the JVP to urge the abolition of the Executive Presidency.
He also went on to say that the JVP would take action towards this issue following their meeting with party members today.
