The Mayor of the Kotte Municipal Council, Janaka Ranawaka has been arrested by the Police, local media reported. The Police Headquarters said that the Mayor was arrested for allegedly assaulting the opposition leader of the Kotte MC Sugath Appuhamy. A complaint with regard to the alleged assault had been lodged with the police. The Mayor is now in the custody of the Police at the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital.
