Owing to the heavy rainfall within the past 24 hours, which exceeded 150 mm, the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) has issued landslide warnings for several Divisional Secretariat Divisions in Ratnapura and Badulla Districts.
Accordingly, these warnings have been issued for Kolonna Divisional Secretariat Division in Ratnapura District and Haldummulla and Bandarawela Divisional Secretariat Divisions in Badulla District and surrounding areas, the government news media reported.
The warning issued today (30th Nov.) at 05. 30 a.m. is effective for next 24 hours.
NBRO requests civilians in these areas to be on alert on the possibility of landslides, slope failures, rock falls, cut failures and ground subsidence and ready to evacuate to a safe location, if rains continue.
