Hundreds of persons across the country took part in a collective effort on Monday to thank those healthcare workers, medical personnel and members of tri- forces who are engaged in the battle against the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) by lighting a lamp in front of their houses.
Earlier, Shivan Foundation in Jaffna and Kandy urged the people to light a lamp in front of their residences on May4 at 7.00pm as a goodwill gesture to thank the frontline workers.
The organization said that the goodwill gesture is to express that we as citizens are grateful to those individuals who risk their own health and work tirelessly to keep our communities safe.
