News

Laws will strictly be imposed to save the country from anti-social and undisciplined activities caused by illicit drugs, says President Maithripala Sirisena. He pointed out that to build a virtuous nation it is essential to enforce the law properly and it is as important as religious guidance in this process. The President made these remarks at foundation stone laying ceremony held yesterday in Wadduwa Samudrarama Viharaya. The President also opened the newly constructed two-storied building at the premises. “Material development should go hand in hand with the spiritual development. Morally degraded society will never reach prosperity” the President said. He also met the chief incumbent of the temple Ven. Bowitiye Dhammissara Thero and offered Atapirikara. Maha Sangha presided by Ven. Dimbulkumbure Vimaladhamma, the Anu Nayaka Thero of Malwathu Chapter, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Ministers Rajitha Senaratne and A. H. M. Fawzi were among those participated at this ceremony.
