Legal action has been taken on 778 dengue breeding site owners in the Western Province and seven other high risk districts, the Ministry of Health said.
According to the Ministry, during the three day programme, which ended on Saturday, officials identified a number of mosquito breeding grounds in homes and other institutions. Notices were issued on owners of 5,656 premises. A total of 121,481 premises were inspected during the programme while 7,353 dengue cases and 10 deaths were reported this year.
The highest number of dengue patients was reported from the Western Province. Colombo district recorded 2,457 dengue patients.The programme was carried out in the Western Province and in the Kegalle, Jaffna, Vavuniya, Puttalam, Batticaloa, Kurunegala and Ampara districts
