The area at the Kumana National Park demarcated for leopard sightings has been closed off for tourists.
This decision was made following the death of a construction worker who was attacked by a leopard in the park yesterday (Apr 18), Wildlife Conservation Department Director General M.G.C Sooriyabandara said.
A wildlife officer who was also attacked by a leopard within park yesterday is currently receiving treatment at the Ampara Base Hospital.
