The Police Media Unit has said that a letter alleged to have been released by the State Intelligence Service on the presidential election, as circulating on social media is fake.
Police Spokesman SSP Ruwan Gunasekara said there is absolutely no truth to the letter claiming to have been sent confidentially to the President.
The letter had predicted the outcome of the presidential election by providing the percentages of votes that would be obtained by the candidates in tomorrow's election.
However, SSP Gunasekara noted that the State Intelligence Service and any arm of the Police Headquarters are independent state bodies and will not interfere into political activities.
He added that the Criminal Investigations Department will be called upon to investigate and take action against those involved in producing the fake letter.
