Lanka Indian Oil Corporation (LIOC) has decided to reduce Diesel prices effective from midnight tonight. Accordingly a litre of Diesel will be reduced by Rs 9 and will be sold from tomorrow at Rs 104 a litre.
However, the price of Octane 92 petrol has been increased by Rs 5 per litre from midnight today. Accordingly Octane 92 petrol will be sold at Rs 140 from tomorrow.
With regard to consumer demand and market sensitivity, Diesel prices were reduced, however Octane 92 petrol prices were increased to minimize the losses incurred owing to the world market prices, LIOC said.
