Liquor shops closed on Nov 12

With the Government declaring Nov 12 as a day of mourning owing to the funeral of the Ven. Maduluwawe Sobitha Thera, all liquor shops will be kept closed on this day. The Ministry of Home Affairs announced that it is also barred from selling beef and also the slaughtering of animals on this day, the government news portal reported.

The Cabinet has taken a unanimous decision to hold the funeral with full state honours, respecting the national and religious services the prelate had discharged. The funeral will be held at the Parliamentary Grounds at Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte.
