All liquor stores in the country will be closed on November 16 and 17 in view of the presidential election, the Excise Department said.
Issuing a statement, the Department noted that this decision had been taken upon a request made by the Election Commission.
Accordingly, around 1000 excise officers will engage in patrols and take legal action against offenders, Excise Department Deputy Commissioner Kapila Kumarasinghe said.
The general public can file complaints regarding incidents of Excise Law violations on the 24-hour hotline 1913, the statement added.
