London High Commission accepts copy of Sinhala version of 'No Fire Zone'

News

The Sri Lanka High Commission in London has accepted a personalised copy of the Sinhala language version of ‘No Fire Zone’ on behalf of President Maithripala Sirisena.     The film’s director, Callum Macrae, in a personal message to the President, has said: “The truth is coming out.  I appeal to you not to obstruct that process, but to encourage it. To be on the side of truth.”     The copy of the film was handed over at a specially arranged meeting at the Sri Lanka High Commission in London, publicists for Mr Macrae said in a statement. It points out that, during his visit to Britain last month, President Sirisena told the BBC he intended to watch the film. For that to happen, the truth must be confronted.”     “Alongside this, several prominent members of Sri Lankan civil society have issued statements supporting the release of the film and encouraging Sinhala people to watch it,” the statement said. These include Nimalka Fernando, Lal Wickrematunge, Dr Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu and Ruki Fernando.
