The National Lotteries Board and Development Lotteries Board have been brought under the purview of the Finance Ministry, Finance Ministry sources revealed.
The relevant gazette notification in this regard was signed by the President, and the Treasury Secretary has informed the board of directors’ to tender their resignations with immediate effect.
These two boards which were handled by the Finance Ministry had been assigned to the Foreign Ministry after Ravi Karunanayake was appointed as the Foreign Minister in the recent cabinet reshuffle on May 22, raising a public outcry. The latest development comes after Karunanayake resigned over revelations pertaining to the bond scam.
