Fisheries Minister Mahinda Amaraweera was appointed as the new General Secretary of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) at the Executive Committee meeting today. President Maithripala Sirisena chaired the meeting and the executive committee memebrs from all the constituent parties took part.
His appointment replacing the vacancy created following the demise of Prof. Vishva Varnapala who passed away recently.
