Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa a short while ago assumed duties as the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka.
A number of Parliamentarians, as well as membes of the Maha Sanga, were present at the occasion.
Mr Rajapaksa was sworn in before President Maithripala Sirisena on October 26.
