President Maithripala Sirisena today has written a letter to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa informing him that he will not be made Prime Minister even if the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) gets majority seats in the upcoming parliamentary to form the next government. President Sirisena said that as the chairman of the UPFA he has the right to appoint any senior SLFP members who commanded the trust of the party and people. He also urged Rajapaksa to recommend some of the senior SLFP members including Nimal Siripala de Silva, John Seniviratne, Chamal Rajapaksa, Athauda Seniviratne, A.H.M. Fowzie, Susil Premjayantha, or Anura Priyadharshana Yapa for the prime minister post.
