The Health Ministry says that the number of guests at a wedding reception cannot exceed 100.
Issuing a media release, the ministry says that steps must be taken to ensure that the number of persons granted entry to a wedding reception does not exceed more than 40% of the seating capacity of the wedding hall.
It adds that it is illegal to have more than 100 guests inside the wedding hall, no matter how large the reception hall might be.
The ministry further notes that smaller wedding halls must adhere to the guideline that only 40% of the hall's seating capacity should be filled. These halls are not permitted to grant entry to 100 guests.
The ministry stated that limiting the number of guests would make it easy for authorities to conduct contact tracing in the event an attendee tests positive for COVID-19.
According to guidelines issued by the Health Ministry, hand-washing facilities must be provided for guests at the entrance to the wedding hall. The temperature of guests must be taken before granting entry to the reception, while a 1 metre distance must be maintained between guests at all times. Wearing of masks is compulsary, while kissing, hugging and handshakes are discouraged. Guests are advised to practice other forms of non-contact greetings. Taking group photos is also discouraged while hotels must allocate dedicated serving staff serve meals if a buffet is laid out, so that a large number of guests do not touch the utensils used to serve meals.
