Media was not allowed to cover today’s (14) meeting that was attended by Wild Life and Forest Conservation Minister C.B. Ratnayaka to investigate in to the alleged deforestation in a land belonging to the Cement Corporation in the Wanathawilluwa Kuratiyamotta area.
This meeting held at the Wanathwilluwa police station was attended by the Director General of Forest Conservation, Director General of Wildlife, the Environment Ministry, the Central Environment Authority, Cement Corporation, Divisional Secretary, DIG Puttalam, SP Puttalam and the OIC of Wanathawilluwa Police station. It was arranged consequent to the continued exposure by the media of this act of deforestation.
When inquired from Minister Ratnayaka why the media was denied of covering the meeting, he said though he respects the media, some things could not be released to the media.
