Met Dept. issues severe weather advisory
The Met Department has issued a severe weather advisory warning of heavy showers and strong winds over several areas of the country.
According to the severe weather advisory, valid for 12 hours from 10.00am today (27), showers or thunder showers will occur in the Western, North-Western, Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle, Matara districts. Fairly heavy falls (around 75-100mm) are also likely at some places.
Strong winds at times can be expected over the country (particularly over Western slopes of the central hills) and surrounding sea area, the advisory further stated.
