The Colombo Chief Magistrate's court today (Jun 20) instructed Minister Ravi Karunanayake and his wife to appear before the Criminal Investigations Department on July 7.
Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne had issued these instructions when the case against Mr. Karunanayake for providing misleading evidence before the Presidential Commission probing the bond scam was heard today.
Meanwhile, the Minister's daughter, Ornella Karunanayake was also instructed to appear before the CID on June 26.
The Magistrate had instructed Ornella to submit documents pertaining to Global Transportation and Logistics Pvt Ltd - a family owned business, to the CID on June 25. She serves as the Executive Director of the company.
Allegations have been levelled against the company for its alleged involvement in the Central Bank Bond Scam.
