The restrictions imposed on Eastern Province Chief Minister Nazeer Ahamed from entering any camps of the security forces have been lifted, the Ministry of Defence (MOD) announced today.
The ban imposed on security forces personnel from attending any public functions attended by the Eastern Province CM has also been lifted.
The restrictions were imposed last week following the furore created when the CM verbally abused a senior naval officer in public, at a function attended by Eastern Province Governor Austin Fernando and US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Athul Keshap. A video of the incident subsequently went viral on social media.
