More than 4000 Police officers will be deployed for security and traffic arrangements in the Anuradhapura and Mihintale areas in line with the upcoming Poson Festival.
The Army and the Civil Security Department has also been called in to assist with the security arrangements, Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said.
Meanwhile, 20 parking areas have been set-up in Anuradhapura, while six areas have been demarcated as parking areas in Mihintale, for devotees who visit these areas to engage in religious activities.
The Police warned the public to refrain from drink driving, bathing in unsafe locations, harassing devotees, and vandalising places of archaeological value.
