A Moulavi who had close ties with key Easter Sunday terrorist bomber Mohamed Zahran has been handed over to the Terrorist Investigation Division (TID) for further investigations yesterday (Jul 8).
The suspect had been arrested on May 1 and had been questioned by the Nikaweratiya Police Crimes Division.
He had received training with Zahran at a training facility in Nuwara Eliya, Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said.
Police have identified the suspect as a 41-year old resident of Nikapitiya, in the North Western region of the country.
