MP Dinesh Gunawardena today took over the office of Leader of the House in Parliament amidst growing conflict on who controls the majority in the legislature.
Gunawardena who was appointed Mnister of Megapolis yesterday visited the office where a religious ceremony was held before he occupied the chair of Leader Of The House.
The UNP has rejected this appointment saying only Parliament can decide who the Leader of the house should be.
The post was held previously by Lakshman Kiriella before the October sacking of Ranil Wickremesinghe and his cabinet by the president.
