The group of Muslim parliamentarians who resigned from their ministerial portfolios, called on the Buddhist Chief Prelates today (Jun 11) to explain the reason behind their resignation.
Speaking at the meeting, former minister Rauff Hakeem had explained to the Chief Prelates of the Asgiri and Malwathu Chapters that the decision to resign was taken in order to ensure the country's security.
He had also stated that the group of muslim parliamentarians will abide by the advices given to them by the Chief Prelates during the discussion.
During the meeting, the Asgiri Chapter's Chief Prelate Ven. Galagama Aththadhassi Thera had said that the people of this country must live as citizens of one country instead of creating divisions among themselves.
