The week commencing from February 6 to February 12 has been declared as the “National Sports and Physical Fitness Promotion Week” with the aim of creating healthy, happy and energetic Sri Lankan generation. In parallel to this event, numerous Sports and Physical Fitness Promotion programmes are scheduled to launch across the country.
A discussion in this regard was held at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena and during the meeting the President instructed the officials to implement this programme taking the contribution of all the relevant sectors.
The President also pointed out the importance of implementing programmes to promote the mental well-being of the people as well as the physical fitness. Accordingly, February 6 has been declared as State and Corporation officials Sports and Physical Fitness Promotion Day.
February 07 – Private Sector Sports and Physical Fitness Promotion Day
February 08– Mother and child Sports and Physical Fitness Promotion Day
February 09– Women Sports and Physical Fitness Promotion Day
February 10– Adults and differently-abled persons Sports and Physical Fitness Promotion Day
February 11– Youth Sports and Physical Fitness Promotion Day
February 12– Community Participation Day of Sports and Physical Fitness Promotion Day.
