The National Tourism Professionals Association yesterday (Oct 09) handed over a complaint to the Parliamentary Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) on the current issues faced by the tourism sector. Along with the complaint, they also presented a proposal on the future of tourism in Sri Lanka.
According to a statement, the main issue raised in their complaint was that they are yet to receive the relief promised by the government following the collapse of the tourism industry due to the Easter Sunday attacks.
The proposal and the complaint were handed over to COPE chairman Sunil Handunnetti.
This is the first time that public proposals and views have been presented to the COPE since sittings were opened to the media.
