Twelve local fishermen who had been engaged in fishing using illegal fishing nets have been arrested by the Sri Lanka Navy. The suspects were arrested along the Vidattaltivu coast in Mannar.
Four fishing vessels and illegal fishing nets were among the equipment seized by the navy during the operations. The suspects, along with their equipment, have been handed over to the Vidattaltivu Fisheries Inspector's Office for further action.

A Sri Lankan man was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi airport for attempting to smuggle wildlife out of the country after three ball pythons were found hidden in his underwear, the Bangkok post reported.
